Cachopo is a village and a community (approx. 700 inhabitants) in the north of the county of Tavira.

Coordinates: 37° 20′ N, 7° 49′ W

The village is situated by the N124.

Researcher have found prehistoric traces on more than 110 sites of the municipal area. 


The locality and its vicinity are perfectly suited for a walk or for getting away from it all and for relaxing.  


There are banks, the post office, restaurants, cafés and shopping facilities.  


A small market for cloths which is held on the street helps the inhabitants to spare time because there is no need to go to the coastal towns for shopping. Also, they avoid the rush of the big malls.   


Igreja de Santo Estêvão

The Igreja de Santo Estêvão was finished about the year 1535 and has been re-erected consistently after damages. The church represented for some time an important place of pilgrimage in this region.
