The market halls in Olhão are open from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 h on.

The halls are situated directly at the port promenade and are separated by the road Avenida 5. Outubro from the town center and from the pedestrian zone.

Coordinates: 37°01’25.4″N 7°50’27.8″W

On the promenade are parking places at disposal (partly for a fee).

The two identical halls adjoin; the western hall is reserved for fish.

Around the actual market diverse shops and cafés are built-in; they can be reached from inside and outside the hall.

The freshness, the quality and the variety of fish is impressing. Many unknown, but very tasty types are on offer depending on the catch.

Once learnt, never forgotten. With trained movements the fish is cleaned, scaled and made ready to cook within a few minutes.

The fresh and crunchy vegetable and fruit comes from the region. The offered range depends on the season.

Two harvests of citrus fruit per year (April and December) guarantee fresh products over the whole year.

Meat products of top quality. Here, still all parts of the animals are employed. Thus, you can also find fresh tongue and the like of it in the showcase.

The ham – known to be good, the spicy Chouriço and various types of cheese are offered.

Dried herbs, regional and international spice blends as well as sundry teas are sold in a prepacked or loose manner.

Honey, cookies, dried figs and Piri-Piri (Chili) sauce belong to every market in the Algarve.

Outside the halls vendors also offer diverse goods.

On Saturdays many booths are set up on the promenade.
