The chapel Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe is situated on the N125 roughly 5 km before Vila do Bispo.

Coordinates: 37°05’00.9″N 8°51’53.7″W

It was constructed in the 13th century by the Order of Christ (Portuguese descendants of the Order of the Temple). It is the oldest sacral building in the Algarve that is preserved to date.

The single-nave church has withstood the centuries quite well.

Inside as well as outside a simple building, completely in the sense of the order.

An adjoining building houses a little museum with spices that were imported from the colonies and a presentation of the trade routes.

Personalities from the region and from Portugal´s glorious history.
